Immersive Editor

Minority Africa is searching for an Immersive Editor to lead our multimedia content production.

As an Immersive Editor, you will be in charge of the conceptualization and editing of Minority Africa’s multimedia content. This means that you will oversee the production of our video, audio, and photo content. You’ll do more than just chop clips together, you’ll be part of the conceptualization process too.

We are a slow newsroom so expect to work on one to two projects each week. This is a full-time and in-person role based in Uganda.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Editing videos, audios, and photos for publication and broadcast.  
  • Filming videos, recording audios, and taking pictures where necessary. 
  • Producing audio and video content for our website and social media pages. 
  • Working with the managing editor and other section editors to determine the multimedia editorial calendar. 
  • Write or modify scripts for video and audio projects. 
  • Conceptualization and eventual execution of audio and video projects. 
  • Attending weekly editorial meetings and bi-monthly general check-ins with the wider team and management.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A complete portfolio depicting the editing works undertaken so far. 
  • Solid and demonstrable experience of using multimedia editing software precisely Adobe Premiere Pro, Final cut pro, Adobe Audition, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Lightroom. Knowledge of similar software is fine too. 
  • Work Experience as a video/photo/audio editor is preferred but not mandatory. 
  • At least basic knowledge of how to create and edit 360 videos and 360 images. 
  • Knowledge of how to use special effects and graphics software. 
  • Filmmaking or a relevant degree is neither preferred nor mandatory. i.e, you do not need to have a degree.
